When posting an article

..from a website, let's try and limit the amount we post to simply the first paragraph. Put a link to the article and then put the first paragraph in quotes. Hopefully this will limit the amount of scrolling people will have to do while navigating through threads. Another thing is that most people don't read anything more than the first paragraph anyway, so if you want to read the rest..just click on the link and visit the entire article.

Back by demand, omnitheory is up and functional again. You'll notice a lot of things have been stripped away from the previous board. This is a combination of lack of compatibility with the new vBulletin and simply not needing them anymore.

What's New

User blogs - can be used for any number of things, such as personal blogs, video game reviews, sports or anything else that comes to mind
Articles - The ability to turn any post into an article that appears on the front page. Only Admins have the ability to use this right now until we see how effective it is.
Content Management System - This acts as a front page for the site or "portal". The CMS includes all of the articles and blogs that have been posted by various members. The newest articles will be posted first and it has the most recent activity for blogs, article/blog comments and forum postings on the right column.
Google AdSense - Something that we haven't had in previous forums, but it's something that will help generate a bit of income for the site if people click on the links. I'm trying to keep it as minimal as possible, but it's there to stay.

What's Gone

XBOX Live Gamertag page - The ability to input your Gamertag through the UserCP still exists, but the page to see everyone's gamertag/score isn't available until the old version is updated to work with the new vBulletin.
Arcade - Another option that is now gone, thanks largely in part to being incompatible with the new vBulletin. If and when it is updated, it may return, it may not. I noticed that it had become apparent that people would come to the board just to play the games before without ever bothering to post, so it's likely the arcade won't be back in the same capacity it was before.
Shoutbox - This will not be coming back. The shoutbox that's available right now for vB 4.0 isn't aesthetically-pleasing and it honestly cut down on forum posting by about 75%.
The Bazaar - This is another option that is not worth putting the effort into. It became too time-consuming to constantly update the Bazaar with new items that rarely ever were used, so we're going to be getting away from that. What was cool 5 years ago isn't so cool now.
Omniads (forum currency) - Same as The Bazaar - will not be returning.

All in all, the site is fairly basic right now but that's because vB 4.0 is still in the Beta stages, so there aren't as many hacks and add-ons available as before. The site will begin to take shape once more add-ons are available.

Managing CMS Section and Content

Here's a quick Visual Guide on how Manage Sections in the new CMS.

1. Editing a Section: If you have permissions to manage a Section, as you hover over the Section title, a pencil icon will display.

After clicking the pencil icon, you will be taken to the Section Edit page. Here's what you will see:

3. SEO URL Alias: This is the SEO Friendly URL. By default, if this is blank, the system will automatically copy the section title.
4. Section Layout: For each section you can define an individual section layout.
